Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
- Ensure that all customers are offered timely, friendly, and quality assistance and guidance in the selection and purchase of lumber, hardware, and related building materials in our retail store.
- Provide estimates of materials needed to complete a variety of projects such as home repair, decks, garages.
- Answer phone calls and other inquiries about our products, services, and operations.
- Assist Sales Team in placing product and hardware orders, managing paperwork, making phone calls, and other tasks as needed.
- Assist in unpacking hardware shipments, labeling, arranging, and putting out store product for display or into storage accurately and promptly.
- Assist in keeping the retail store and related storage areas orderly, efficient, clean, and attractive, including ensuring the merchandising of products in the store is up to date.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
(Applicant must be able to perform these basic skills at time of employment.)
- One or more years of customer service experience.
- High school diploma or GED from accredited school system or program.
- Maintain positive attitude and outstanding customer service.
- Basic math skills to accurately add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Basic computer skills using email, word-processing, and spreadsheet programs, with the ability to learn the store’s Point of Sale program as well as other computer programs as needed.
- Ability to learn necessary procedures related to the function of our retail building material store as well as safety precautions.
- Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and be detail oriented with excellent organizational skills.

Preferred Skills:
- Applicable industry knowledge or experience.
- Knowledge to understand and interpret building plans and/or technical documents.
Working Conditions
Store Hours: Monday – Friday 7:30am-5:00pm
This hourly position requires some flexibility in schedule during our busy season with ability to work some overtime hours as needed.
This is a non-remote position with attendance at the store required. It is an office and retail store environment in which help is occasionally needed in assisting customers in loading product into their vehicle, retrieving product from yard buildings, or traveling to job-sites.
